VISIONEER EXPANDS EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT TEAM
New sales, engineering execs strengthen company's focus on business imaging market
Pleasanton, CA - October 1, 2003 - Visioneer, Inc., a leader in intelligent imaging solutions, today announced an expanded executive team aimed at extending the company's focus and commitment to the business imaging market. Thirteen-year scanner industry veteran Bob Scaglia has been promoted to senior vice president of sales from vice president of sales, while sales executive John Capurso joins Visioneer in a new position as vice president of corporate sales. On the engineering front, Brandon Greene, formerly director of engineering, has been named vice president of engineering for the company.
Today's announcement follows the recent strategic licensing news where Visioneer and Xerox announced that Visioneer will develop, market and support a new line of Xerox-branded document scanners and digital projectors through the company's extensive sales channels in North America, Latin America and Europe. Visioneer's research data indicates that customers who are familiar with Xerox associate high-quality and technical superiority with the Xerox brand - attributes that are particularly important in the corporate market for scanners and digital projectors.
"These executive team announcements are significant for Visioneer as they underscore both our commitment to and momentum in the business imaging market," said Murray L. Dennis, Visioneer's president and CEO. "Our sales and engineering teams will be key in driving sales and product development efforts of our expanded Visioneer-branded and Xerox-branded business product line."
According to Dennis, Visioneer posted record June quarter-ending sales that were fueled by continued growth in the business products segment. Despite the industry-wide
slowdown in the retail sector, Visioneer's business imaging products are now exceeding 50% of the company's revenues.
Scaglia joined Visioneer in 1998 and has been responsible for the company's North American retail sales strategy. An industry veteran, Scaglia previously held executive sales and customer service positions with Mustek Corporation. Scaglia attended Cal-State University Fullerton and holds an Associates Degree in Electronics.
Capurso has an impressive track record in executive sales and business development for a number of leading technology companies. He was most recently principal of Audentia, LLC, a professional services firm, where he managed sales, marketing and business development. Capurso also served as vice president of sales for ScanSoft, a paper to digital software provider, where he lead the successful North American and Pacific Rim sales efforts. Prior to ScanSoft, Capurso held a variety of strategic sales positions within the imaging and publishing divisions at Adobe Systems for nine years. He holds a B.S. degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts and an M.B.A. (Marketing) from Babson College, located in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Greene has been with Visioneer for five years as director of engineering, during which time the company's product line has expanded significantly in both the business and consumer imaging markets. Greene has held SQA engineering positions with Adobe Systems, Apple Computer and Minolta.
